I think it’s fun, but still pretty basic as a game. I’ve done a full writeup of all of the games which will go live when I announce the winner at midnight (GMT).

I’m getting a strong terraria/minecraft vibe from this. I can’t detect many of the themes but it’s really fun. did you know you can “land surf” kinda like the iceman (X-men) riding ice waves? All you’ve got to do is hold the place block button, left/right and jump. It’s tons of fun.

Aaaand after a very long build process (loads of files in my game this time) I proudly present Bohemian Political Upheaval Simulator 1618! BPUS is a stealth game made entirely by myself where you defenestrate people at the behest of an enigmatic beggar during the Second Defenestration of Prague. Featuring genuine Baroque art and music! Controls and aims are available on the linked page or in the game itself.

Hey, all. This is my submission: The Aberrant Gerent (TAG!) I made it in about 8 hours using lua/love2d. There’s a windows and an OSX version. I also included the .love file for linux users and those curious to see the source. I was planning on having the web player working, but I’ve ran out of time and I have other things I need to do. (I’ll update if this changes)

Controls are on the page as well as within the game.

Wow this one is tricky, but I like a learning curve, really makes me come back for more.

I’m impressed you made this in 8 hours. Does that include the art or did you source that from somewhere?

I like it and I think with a bit of polish, this could be quite popular.

Includes the artwork. 🙂 I didn’t really make any revisions after the initial placement of pixels because… hey, I have so little time.

The music is from Autotracker.py. It’s a procedural music generator that was originally written for one of the Ludum Dares by someone more talented than myself. The sound effects were from BFXR

    Hey!

Here’s a submission from our small team:
Me, Jack Duckels, Luke Schnabel, David Fitzsimmons and Dylan Betts.

The game is called SHARK. Inspired by a little bit of all three themes, our game is about giving out loans and staying alive!

Controls: Just click (aside from name entry at the start!).

The characters and the art in this are really good fun. Did you make the music as well?

I’m particularly impressed with how you put a little bit of all three themes (obviously you focus on the two random ones here, but it’s nice to see a tip of the hat to defenestration too) in, especially considering how different the themes were this month.

Also I like how, even though it was only made in three days, the game actually has replay value. Well done!

Glad you like it! The music was the only thing we had to hunt for online.

We actually wanted to work the defenestration theme a little more by allowing the player to hire thugs to throw people out of windows if they were overdue. But we’re happy with how it turned out 😀 Thanks for the kind words!

Had a lot of fun experimenting with this theme.

Ultimately I had a lot less free time this weekend than I originally expected and only really got 1 solid days work on this game. That said, I still had a lot of fun going for a goofy idea and style game. I cut out a lot of the gameplay elements I had planned, but I’m still pretty happy with the result and will probably try add those ideas I had at some point in the future.

Controls are: WASD to move, SPACE to grab and drop, R to swap views, LEFT CLICK to select an object or person (although this mechanic ended up not being used)

Already I see the physics can be a little wonky when reloading levels so maybe I can fix whatever’s happening there before the deadline.

Also, I should have said… to goal in the games current state is to just throw everything out of the building as fast as possible XD

This is pretty fun, I hope you keep working on it! I particularly think the first person view is quite useful (for a while I thought the windows were just lighter patches of wall!). It’s good fun, keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback. And yeah I realized pretty early on I had no idea how to make a convincing looking window >.<

I just now got a chance to play the version I uploaded. I was (slightly) late to a job trying to finish as much as I could, and didn't get a chance to see it in action beyond 1 quick run in the editor. There are more bugs than I thought, so I'm hoping I can reupload with better settings or as a standalone and get it to run a little cleaner.

Not sure if I’m still allowed to submit, but I fixed most of the bugs I found in the original, and added the control descriptions in game. No actual changes to gameplay/textures/models though.
